Glossary J-Z

Jelly Rubber - A soft rubber material often used for dildos and vibrators. It is the least expensive of any dildo material, but contains phthalates.

Paddle - A toy for use in impact play, usually made of wood, leather, lexan or a combination of the three. Ideally, a paddle spreads the impact over a large surface, but is heavy enough to give a solid thud.

Phthalate - Any of a set of chemicals used to make plastic soft. Phthalates have caused a revolution in sex toys, allowing higher-quality toys to be made more cheaply. Unfortunately, there is a possibility of adverse side effects, including a burning sensation.

Pocket Pussy - Any sheath into which one is expected to thrust one's penis. Usually made of Silicone or Cyberskin, lubricant is recommended.

Rabbit Vibrator - A vibrating dildo with a second, rabbit-shaped head intended to stimulate the clitoris while the first head works its magic internally

Silicone - A material for sex toys that is more durable than Jelly Rubber but is just as versatile. Silicone sex toys are non-porous and can thus be easily sterilized.

Spot Vibrator - Any small vibrator designed to focus on a certain part of the body (such as the clitoris or the nipple).

Vibrator - An electrical device that vibrates and is used to increase sexual pleasure A vibrator, depending on the size and shape, can be used internally or externally.

Vibrating Egg - A small vibrator designed to be used internally. Also known as a bullet vibrator.
