Caring For Your Sex Toys

Porous Dildos and Vibrators

It's impossible to sterilize a porous toy, but you can (and should) clean it up to keep it looking and smelling fresh. Use a soft cloth and warm, soapy water and you're golden.

If you're worry about the phthalates degrading, you can put a condom on your toys before using them. This way, you still get the perfect shape and none of the worries.

Silicone Dildos and Vibrators

You can clean silicone toys in the top rack of the dishwasher, boil them for ten minutes or watch them in warm, soapy water. Let them air dry and they're ready for another go-round.

Cyberskin and VixSkin

These lifelike materials require special care to keep their texture. First of all, only use water-based lubricants or lubricants designed to be used with these materials. Silicone-based lubricants will cause dildos made from these materials to degrade.

To clean cyberskin, wash with mild soap and warm water, let it air-dry and then powder it with cornstarch to keep it feeling smooth and sensual. Store in a plastic bag with a little cornstarch and they'll stay perfect for longer.

To clean vixskin, boil it for three minutes or clean with warm, soapy water. Let it air dry, and it's golden.

Glass and Acrylic Dildos

Glass toys are the easiest to clean: you can boil them, soak them in bleach, pop 'em in the dishwasher, pretty much anything. All you have to worry about is keeping them smooth and free of chips, so make sure you don't drop them.

Acrylic toys need mild soap and warm water, but otherwise they're like glass.
