Caring For Your Harness
Vinyl and Rubber
Vinyl and rubber are easy: wipe it down with mild soap and a soft cloth. If they come into contact with bodily fluids, use 70% rubbing alcohol before the soap. Don't store rubber with leather, as the leather will degrade the rubber as the two products rub against one another.
Leather
Leather is among the most durable of the materials, and with proper care will outlast everything on this list with the possible exception of glass. And even glass is uncertain, because you won't hurt your leather harness by dropping it.
The downside is you've got to take proper care out of it. If your leather toys come into contact with body fluids, disinfect it with 70% rubbing alcohol. After you disinfect, you'll have to properly recondition it: we recommend Lexol brand leather conditioner.
If your leather toys get seriously dirty, you'll have to do a full cleansing with saddle soap (or similar leather cleanser) and Neat's Foot Oil (or similar conditioner, Lexol works fine here). You should also periodically spray your leather goods with a moisture barrier product (Collonil makes a good one).
Don't store leather in plastic, because it will encourage the growth of mildew. Don't store leather with rubber, as the leather will degrade the rubber as the two products rub against one another.
